Importing Pets to South Africa

All animals (including birds, rodents etc.) have to have an Import Permit. All mammals require a micro chip and a valid rabies vaccination (valid meaning no more than 1 year old and not less than 30 days)
Please note it takes 6 – 8 weeks to book quarantine. There are certain blood test required for dogs – please check with us in this regard)

There is approximately 2 weeks (14 day) quarantine for dogs from certain countries, please contact us in this regard.

There is no quarantine for cats entering South Africa from any country.

Birds and rodents have to undergo 30 days quarantine.

All animals entering South Africa must travel as manifest cargo and not as excess luggage or they will be returned to point of departure.

    Please could you tell me what is require to bring a pet from Manchester UK to Centurion SA? i need to know what are the costs going to be, and what is the procedure? Basically i need to know everything with regards to getting the German Shepard to us in SA?

    I am looking at bringing an Affenpinscher puppy from the USA, Chapell Hill North Carolina, apparently SAA is the best airline. Can you arrange transportation etc from this end or do I need to find a pet transport company over there.
    Have applied for my import permit, should be here in the next week to 10 days.

    I am importing a 6-year-old Samoyed dog from the United States. The dog has a rabies shot (more than 30 days old but less than 1 year). Aside from the blood tests on the South African Vet Import Permit, do we need to get a rabies titre anitbodies test? Thanks.

    Good Day,

    I am looking at importing a German Shepard puppy from the USA to Durban SA. The puppy will be aproximately 8 weeks old and will have all the normal vaccinations.
    Is there additional vaccinations required?
    Please indicate what permits will be required?
    What period will this dog have to be in quaritine, were will it be in qaurintine?
    What will the costs be.

    Please could you give me an idea of the costs involved in importing a staffordshire bull terrier puppy (3 months old) from the USA, Washington, into SA JHB Int airport. I need to know complete price as well as what innoculations and paperwork would be required from USA, would you handle all aspects of travel/documentation etc or would the seller in the USA have to do paperwork etc.

    I understand that as from January 2012, the quarantine requirements for UK will not apply, and that the ones for New Zealand are down to 10 days. Is the requirement for Australia still the same??

    I have a lovely pomeranian(toy pom) that I would like to cargo from Hong kong. He’s name is Gizmo a 2year old male. I would like to find a price if it was carried from SA.
