Importing Pets to South Africa

All animals (including birds, rodents etc.) have to have an Import Permit. All mammals require a micro chip and a valid rabies vaccination (valid meaning no more than 1 year old and not less than 30 days)

Please note it takes 6 – 8 weeks to book quarantine. There are certain blood test required for dogs – please check with us in this regard)

There is approximately 2 weeks (14 day) quarantine for dogs from certain countries, please contact us in this regard.

There is no quarantine for cats entering South Africa from any country.

Birds and rodents have to undergo 30 days quarantine.

All animals entering South Africa must travel as manifest cargo and not as excess luggage or they will be returned to point of departure.
