I’m sorry I’ve taken awhile to get back to you.  I hope you are well and that business is going very well for you too!

I am just writing to say thank you so much for all of your help and hard work getting our Labrador, Sammy, back home to us in the UK.  After almost a year away from us he is finally home, safe and sound.  Having dealt with yourself and Animal Travel since October/November when we started the whole process to get Sammy back I can honestly say that I am so, pleased you were there every step of the way.  There is no way things would have gone as smoothly as they did if I had tried to do everything from the UK.  You really were a great help and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone whether they need to ship a pet around SA or even further a field like the UK!

I have attached a few photos of Sammy on the day he got home.  He was so tired that he spent most of the day asleep, after having had a bath and a juicy leg of lamb (spoilt dog!) of course.  I am so happy that he is home!  Thank you again for everything Animal Travel Agency.

Perking up after a long flight

Ok - I am ready to resume my ball chasing duties!

This is one of many happy customers who have moved their pets overseas with Animal Travel Agency - When you fly a Dog overseas, and in fact any pet, they will suffer from fatigue and loneliness – just like a child – they will also suffer from jet lag. It does not last long and with a bit of love they will soon be back to their bouncy ways.

You can make the trip easier by placing a blanket that they know – with your smell on, in the animal travel box – if you can keep the pet box at home for a few days and let the dog or cat get accustomed to it – it will help a lot. Turn the box into a game so that the newness does not stress the animal. Owners in fact become more stressed than their pets – I suppose this is natural – but it is usually unfounded as most animals travel overseas very well, and recover from the aeroplane trip very quickly.

All pets entering the United States from other countries need to meet both vaccination and health requirements. All animals are subject to inspection at all ports of entry for any signs or symtpoms of diseases which can be transmitted to humans.

Quarantine Procedures for the United States

With the exception of pets entering the state of Hawaii, there is no quarantine for pets arriving in the US from overseas at this time.

Vaccination and Health Requirements for Dogs and Cats

1) Rabies Vaccination & Certificate - Dogs and cats must be accompanied by a valid rabies vaccination certificate. This means your pet must have been vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry. This does not apply to puppies that are younger than 3 months, nor to dogs originated or located for 6 months in areas considered to be free of rabies. Should your vaccination certificate be found invalid, your pet will be confined upon inspection at arrival, and must be vaccinated within four days. After the vaccination, your pet will have to remain in confinement for an additional 30 days.

2)  International Health Certificate - In the last ten days prior to departure, a vet must issue an International Health Certificate stipulating that your cat is alright to fly. This is required by all airlines. For dogs, this would be required within 5 days of departure.
