The Travel Box
Airline approved animal travel boxes have lots of ventilation holes and are of a stipulated size to allow the animal to stand up, lie down and turn around comfortably. Hence, as long as bedding will not block any ventilation holes or cramp the animal in any way, it is more than acceptable. Animal Travel always advises pet tavel to include a familiar small blanket with all the comforting smells of home.
Arriving Clean and Dry
Its true that most animals drink water in transit, but eat little to nothing during journeys. Perhaps their instincts are activated, since they are in a new place and an unfamiliar situation, or perhaps they know its better not to have a full tummy without a nice patch of grass to visit later. Generally it means that travel boxes don’t get too badly soiled. Puppies will often make messes on their blankies, but fully grown animals will rarely soil the area where they sleep. However, before putting your little girl’s favourite stuffed toy in with your pet for the flight, be aware that should it be a long flight with a stopover, a soiled piece of bedding might be thrown away. Shredded newspaper is provided in all animal travel boxes, which makes it quick and easy to change to keep your pet warm, dry and happy in transit.
